She nodded, and gave him a muffled 'thanks' through the mouth in her mouth. But when she heard his next question, she placed it on the ground to stare at Lionstrike for a moment. "No." It was a stupid answer, since Breezefur had the title of 'queen', meaning a she-cat that was expecting or nursing. Though they had an odd system for queens. "If you're wondering why I'm in the nursery, it's so I can just be there if there's any kits coming in. Meaning, the adopted ones." She attempted explaining it.

Lionstrike had always wondered how queens had enough patience to even take care of kits. He knew he could never be able to be patient enough around his own kits. "I think you would be a good mother." He complimented Breezefur, she would make a wonderful mother. He nodded at her explanation at why she was in the Nursery. He understood that, but it still confused him a little."

She smiled. "Thanks." She would've liked to return the compliment, except saying he was a good father, but she really had no idea how good a father he would be. Instead, Breezefur chose to ask a question. "Have you ever wanted your own kits?" The question might've seemed awkward and weird, but it was too late to take it back now if it was.

Lionstrike's eyes lit up with happiness when Breezefur asked him if he wanted kits. It was probably every tom's dream, to pass on their genes to another generation and on to another generation. He wanted nothing more than to make a girl happy and his kits happy as well. "Yes, I would love kits of my own one day." He smiled at Breezefur, with a sparkle in his eyes.

She smiled back. "Too bad you're not the one who has to give birth, and be stuck in the nursery with a bunch of noisy furballs for six moons." Breezefur teased, an image of toms and queens switching roles entering her mind. It was weird and amusing at the same time.

Lionstrike laughed and purred loudly. "I honestly couldn't handle that, but if a she-cat was having my kits I would be with them the whole time." He continued to smile, while he licked a paw and drew it over his ears.

"That'd be something comforting to hear to every she-cat and queen." Breezefur purred back, knowing how little toms really bothered to stay and help the queens take care of the kits. If only all toms were like Lionstrike, willing to do their part in raising the kits.

Lionstrike nodded in agreement at Breezefur's words. "I guess I'm not like other toms. I would love to see my kits be born, not after." He wondered if she thought he was strange.

Breezefur didn't think of Lionstrike as strange at all. She thought of him more as sweet. "Too bad the medicine cats make you stay outside the nursery until after the kits are born." She said with a faint smile.

Lionstrike frowned and looked to the ground in a sad kind of way. "Probably because we are too big to be inside of the nursery, along with the mother thrashing around and the medicine cat." He looked back up at Breezefur and thought Breezefur as the good mother type, and that she would also make a good mate, but was willing to wait if she needed to.

She shrugged. "Who knows?" She herself really had no idea why the medicine cats had everyone stay outside the nursery while the queens gave birth, but she wasn't going to question them. As she shrugged off the thoughts, Breezefur grinned suddenly. "You're bringing on all this talk of kits. Are you really thinking of having kits?" It might've been an awkward question like before, but she was a queen. It wouldn't do to be a queen, whose job was basically to raise and provide future warriors of the Clan, while being embarrassed to talk about it.

Lionstrike stared in shock at Breezefur when she asked him if he was really ready to have kits. "I...um...yeah I guess so..." He trailed off looking at the ground once more. This was too embarrassing for him, and probably even more for Breezefur but it was her job. He glanced up, softly smiling as he did so. "Why?"

Breezefur almost broke out laughing when she saw the surprised expression on his face after she asked the question. Then she shrugged. "Nothing. Just wondering." She replied, blinking once.

Lionstrike raised an 'eyebrow' and gave her a charming smile. "Are you thinking...me and you having kits together?" He knew that answer but he wanted to see what she would say. He wouldn't really mind if they had kits, he would love it. Lionstrike stepped closer to Breezefur and touched his nose to hers.

Now it was her turn to be shocked. "Well ... I mean ..." Breezefur stuttered awkwardly. When Lionstrike stepped closer and touched her nose, she closed her eyes for a moment before trying to respond again. She opened her mouth, but she couldn't find any words to stay. Instead she waited for Lionstrike to say something in return.
